Panel: Why early stage venture capital and emerging managers should be an important part of your allocation strategy over the next 3 years

M Dr. Plamen Russev Jonathan Hollis Jared Heyman

After two decades as a successful technology entrepreneur, Jared co-founded Pioneer and then Rebel, both top-decile Y Combinator-focused seed funds. His venture funds have collectively raised over $100M in capital, invested in 200+ Y Combinator startups, and seeded companies now valued at over $20B in total.

Rebel (www.rebelfund.vc) aims to invest in the best 0.1% of the 40,000+ tech startups that apply each year to Y Combinator, the #1 accelerator in the world with 80+ unicorns and $600B+ in portfolio company value. The fund’s due diligence and investing decisions are made by a team of accomplished Y Combinator alumni who have founded companies now valued at over $85B in aggregate. Rebel utilizes a proprietary machine-learning algorithm called Rebel Theorem to help validate and screen potential investments, building a diversified portfolio of top Y Combinator startups that is statistically powered to outperform.

He previously founded online market research companies Infosurv & Intengo and lead them to tens of millions in aggregate revenue and a strategic acquisition by Savanta / Next 15 Communications (LON:NFC). CrowdMed, his YC-backed startup (W13) raised millions in venture capital from top-tier funds like a16z, NEA, Khosla Ventures and Greylock, and is still operating today.

Heyman was formerly a consultant at Bain & Company and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin with majors in Business Honors and Marketing. He is the lead inventor on multiple US patents related to prediction market technology. He also serves as a Trustee of the philanthropic Heyman Family Foundation.
